A Record-Breaking Reopening for What Is Hip!

What a way to come back!

After weeks of hard work behind the scenes, What Is Hip reopened its doors on Saturday 15th August following a major refurbishment – and what a day it turned out to be.

Customers came out in force to see our new-look shop, making our reopening day officially the busiest trading day in the history of What Is Hip! 🎉

We were absolutely blown away by the response and couldn’t have asked for a better way to begin this exciting new chapter.

A Fresh New Look for What Is Hip

The refurbishment has given What Is Hip a whole new lease of life, with updated fittings, reimagined shopping spaces and a fresh, funky atmosphere.

But while things might look a little different, staying true to the vintage and retro character that our customers have loved for years was incredibly important to us.

The aim was never to change What Is Hip. It was about making the shop even better while keeping everything that makes it special.

As owner Mark explains:

“We’d known for a while there were a few little things we’d like to improve, so we decided it was the perfect opportunity to give the shop a new lease of life.

We’ve created a whole new funky vibe whilst keeping everything that people already love about What Is Hip.”

Keeping Richard at the Heart of What Is Hip

Most importantly, the refurbishment has been carried out with What Is Hip founder Richard Routledge firmly at its heart.

Every aspect of the transformation has been approached with Richard in mind, ensuring the shop continues to reflect the personality, style and welcoming atmosphere that helped make What Is Hip such a well-loved destination for fans of Mod, Skinhead, Rockabilly, Classic Casual and retro clothing.

Mark said:

“Every decision we’ve made has been with Dad in mind – we wanted to create something he’d have been proud of and something we know he would have loved.”

The shop may have a fresh new look, but the values and passion behind What Is Hip remain exactly where they’ve always been.

Our Busiest Day Ever!

Of course, none of this would mean anything without our customers – and the response to our reopening was incredible. Saturday became the busiest trading day What Is Hip has ever experienced, with familiar faces returning to see the transformation alongside plenty of people discovering the shop for the very first time.

Mark said:

“We were absolutely blown away by the response on Saturday. To reopen the doors after everything we’ve put into the refurbishment and then have the busiest day in the history of the shop was incredible.

“It was brilliant to see so many familiar faces coming back, as well as lots of new customers experiencing What Is Hip for the first time. We can’t thank everyone enough for the support.”
